A one-person shop, run from Goa, a little stubborn about doing things properly.

I'm Sarat. I build software and AI systems for owner-run businesses, and when I'm done, the business owns the system. It runs on their accounts, their keys, their machines. No subscription to me.

How I build

I build the way a lead engineer runs a team, except my team is AI agents. I decide what gets built and how: the design, the standards, and the tests every piece has to pass. The agents write the code, and nothing ships until it passes those checks. I read the results, not just the claims. That's how one person can build what used to need a small team, without cutting corners.

It took practice. The open-source back-office platform on my GitHub took seven attempts before the eighth one held, and each time the fix was the process, not the tools. So the stack is whatever the problem wants. What I bring is the method, a lot of listening, and a stubborn interest in why things work.

Before this

About a decade in the development sector. At Vitamin Angels I built a micro-learning course on vitamin A supplementation that reached over ten thousand frontline health workers across Maharashtra. At the Indian Institute for Human Settlements I ran the social channels and helped build an internal wiki people actually used, which anyone who has built an internal wiki will know is the hard part. The thread through all of it was making tools land with people who have no time for a manual. That's still the whole job.

From 2020 to 2025 I traded index options full-time. I learnt more about risk, discipline and my own head in those years than in any classroom. I wouldn't repeat them, and I wouldn't give back what they taught me.

I studied psychology at West Chester University in Pennsylvania and left before finishing. Most of what I know I taught myself, and that hasn't stopped.

The Goa bit

My wife and I live in Goa. I'm up around 4:30 most mornings, and I live in t-shirts and shorts. My wife asks me "why are you like this?" several times a day, and she's usually right to.

One day our Royal Enfield died near the Panjim Gymkhana. A man called Rafe, whom we'd never met, lent two stranded strangers his Activa and went fishing. I think about that a lot. It's the kind of place I want to build things from: unhurried, generous, and quietly competent. My open-source UI library is dedicated to him.

Who else

Rahul Sinha co-founded Asymmetrica and built alongside me through its first year. He's since gone off to do an MBA at IIM Rohtak, and a lot of how the studio works today is something we shaped together. For bigger jobs I bring in people I trust; the person you talk to is still the person who builds it.
